General Practitioners in Oncology (GPO) Fellowship Program Officially Launched in Nepal

November 4, 2025. The General Practitioners in Oncology (GPO) Fellowship Program has officially launched in Nepal, a collaborative initiative between the National Academy for Medical Sciences (NAMS) and Queen’s University (Canada).

The development of the program was led by Dr. Gyawali, and Dr. Bishesh Sharma Poudyal.

The program aims to equip general practitioners with the knowledge and clinical skills needed to support task-shifting and task-sharing in oncology care, helping to ease the burden on Nepal’s oncology workforce and reduce the long travel times many patients face when seeking cancer treatment.
