Dr. Samuel Stevens

Sam is a Medical Oncologist and PhD Candidate from Sydney, Australia. He is the 2025 Common Sense Oncology Fellow in Cancer Policy with co-appointment as a Clinical Fellow in Oncology at Kingston Health Science Centre, Canada.

His research uses mixed methods to understand the patient experience of cancer care, focusing on the time burdens and trade-offs required for treatment (“time toxicity”) and their impact on treatment preferences and shared decision-making in advanced cancer. He is also interested in how oncology services can be designed to improve the quality, value, and patient-centredness of care.

Sam has co-authored 2 publications with the BG Lab.
